SHIKE SAID HE CAN SAVE CITIZENS TIME & MONEY.
John Shike said he has a program which can save the State  and Houstonians millions of dollars in traffic fines, employee salary's and court expenses. The way it can be done is allowing citizens to log on "ONLINE". Authorize citizens to pay fines, bonds, request for Defensive Driving, and several other traffic court  related matters. Such as plea bargaining, changing of the court dates, and request for a Jury trial." This alone can boost City revenues by several  million dollars. This will save citizens time and money, they would not have to take of from work,  or come to court.   Shike said, all this can be done "ONLINE."

02-27-2005 TO HELP POOR HOUSTONIANS, SHIKE ANNOUNCES HIS STATE SPONSORED HEALTH PROGRAM.
Your Harris County Clerk Candidate John Shike spoke out against the high cost health benefits.
Shike said that he has a program to help poor under privilege Houstonians .I do not believe that in one of the richest and most Industrialized countries of the world, America... poor families can not afford health insurance. We are about 50 years behind many poor countries of the world like Pakistan and India ; who even have free medical care for their poor citizens. Our next door neighbor, Canada has one of the best plans. Shike said," how long are we going to wait for the Federal Government to come out for a national health program? I believe we should start that at the city level." Shike said, "My health plan will help poor people." It will be under the State of Texas health departments. For now we can call it “State of Texas Health Club."
No 1.  The citizens will apply for  membership to this club. $100.00 a year regardless of the family size.
No 2. The citizen must provide three years of income tax to prove that they are poor. Max yearly income $30,000.00.
No 3. Last two pay check stubs. This will be similar to getting a Gold Card from the County. However this will be a state health program.  The health departments will work with local hospitals and they will provide to city health department doctors who are working on their residency. City may adopt a program to sponsor doctors through their health clinics. The citizens who are, members can take their families to these city clinics for minor medical problems such as, Cold, Flue, allergy, cough, fever , etc. Citizens will pay $ 10.00 per visit. The cost for most emergency clinics is about $45.00 to $60.00 per visit. This will save citizens about $ 30 to $ 40 dollars per visit. Shike says under his plan the city will open about 150 to 250 more clinics around the city of Houston . Shike said, "This will help thousands of citizens who can not afford doctors bills as well as boost the city economy and bring about 100 million dollars to city of Houston."  He also says he is working on several plans to make many State departments self sufficient
.
